Rumours have resurfaced of Microsoft's plans to launch its own phone.
Canaccord Adams analyst Peter Misek said in a research note that, "There is a high likelihood that Microsoft is slated to enter the branded smart phone market in 2009 by unveiling its first device at the Mobile World Congress."
It's an old story, regularly trotted out and based on the fact that Microsoft already has, in its Zune music player, a device that could easily be re-launched with telco features.

The firm also bought the handset maker Danger earlier this year. Danger is now a part of Microsoft's new Premium Mobile Experiences (PMX) team, within the Entertainment and Devices Division at Microsoft.
The research note predicted the device would be based on Nvidia's Tegra chipset and aimed at Windows Mobile handset developers. However, Microsoft has repeatedly stated that it has no plans to launch an own-branded phone.
